Intro to Oral History

This course taught students the basics of oral history such as how to write questions for interviews, how to conduct interviews, and how to write transcripts.  This course opened my eyes to the world of oral history and through this, I discovered my love for oral history.  I enjoy hearing each individual story and life experiences. Oral history is a great way to learn about the past from those that experienced it.

For the final project in this course, students were instructed to conduct interviews and create some form of digital media or to write a paper both were to use the information gathered from the interviews as sources. For my final project, I interviewed people on what urban legends and folk tales they heard growing up and what lesson that tale might be trying to tell.  I compiled the information I gathered into an Arc GIS story map.
